SYDNEY DARDEN / ALLISON BOWDEN

Sydney Darden
I was raised in the forests surrounding Blacksburg, VA and developed a deep appreciation for the natural environment that surrounded me. While studying abroad in high school, I did research on several Himalayan terrace farms and became interested in regenerative agriculture. In 2010, I received my B.A. in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Sustainable Agriculture from Warren Wilson College near Asheville, NC. During my time at WWC, I spent 3 semesters on the college Landscaping Crew and became manager of the Edible Landscaping Crew–working in the campus Permaculture garden and installing edible plants throughout campus. I have worked full seasons on organic farms in Hawaii, North Carolina, Virginia, and Maine, honing my knowledge of practical organic vegetable, fruit & flower gardening. I received my Permaculture Design Certificate in May 2013 and created Darden’s Gardens in March 2014 offering informed landscaping solutions to clients. I teamed up with Allison in 2017 and we created Juneberry Gardens in 2019, as the latest chapter of my career in the green industry.
